~La Petite Montagne Winery~
AHH at last!! My first two barrels of 2009 Viogner fermenting
quietly in French Oak! The Viogner grapes came from a vineyard very close to our own estate vineyards under construction~These
wines are being made by our winemaker in the French "Sur Lie" style~
( BELOW) we have 1/2 ton of hand selected 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, freshly picked from a nearby vineyard and destemmed,
now ready to start fermentation. Our Winemaking policy is to follow Old World techniques, but apply modern organic
technology as appropriate when it helps to improve the wines. This Cabernet will be unfined and unfiltered.
(above) freshly destemmed whole berry clusters of 2009 Cabernet, ready for fermentation on our crush pad
~below you can see the barrel room construction detail; 2x6 framing to support extra insulation, which when combined
with the partial underground design will help maintain the conatant 58 degree cellar temperature for aging our estate
produced Rhone wines~the harvest data are perfect this year thanks to our unique microclimate~
~above; the detail of our entryway featuring 8'H x7' W doors hand crafted from solid redwood planks;~ wide enough to
allow fork truck access for moving barrels as required. Several coats of stucco and local limestone rock features will complete
the exterior~
Located at the north end of the property and partially underground, the Reserve Barrel room has been designed to store
30+ barrels ( 750 cases) of wine, and also features an adoining outdoor crush area.
Feel Free to contact Villa Valdemosa with regards to our La Petite Montagne Winery, we'd
love to take you on a tour when you are in the area!
